Waltzing Matilda

When I was thinking about writing this blog, I don’t know why but the title “Waltzing Matilda” just jumped out at me.  I have no idea why it popped into my head.  It is probably a song more from my mother’s generation than it is mine.  In my mind I can hear her singing those words.

"Waltzing Matilda" is Australia's best-known bush ballad and has been described as the country's "unofficial national anthem". The title was Australian slang for travelling on foot (waltzing) with one's belongings in a "matilda" (swag) slung over one's back.  I picture a person walking alone and maybe that’s how many of us feel at this time, alone.  We’re really not.  I don’t think we are doing much “waltzing” at this time either, but I can’t get that tittle our of my mind.

I am 76 years old -  a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin to many.  I wanted to put my thoughts on paper and encourage others to do the same.  I am not exactly sure where this is going, but I can tell where it won’t be going.  Let’s not talk about controversy, we have enough of that everyday.  Let’s not talk about politics, we are consumed by it.  Let’s not complain, we all have complaints and many of them are the same.  Let's focus on sharing our thoughts, adding a little humor, and realizing we are really no different from others.  We all go through this life, its ups and its downs, just like everyone else.
